GEORGETOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 13, 2022) – An 83-year-old Jenison man was injured in a two-vehicle crash just west of his hometown on Sunday evening.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Hallmeyer, deputies and other first responders were dispatched to the intersection of Chicago Drive (M-121) and 18th Avenue around 6:15 PM. That’s where an eastbound grey minivan apparently went through a red light and collided with a northbound sedan, driven by the Jenison man. The collision caused the minivan to overturn several times, coming to rest on its side in the median of the divided highway.
Despite the force of the collision, the only injury suffered was by the sedan man, who complained of neck pain and was treated at the scene. His passenger, an 80-year-old Jenison woman, as well as the minivan driver, a 35-year-old Grand Rapids woman with three children, aged 3, 6 and 8, were all unhurt.
Hallmeyer added that the minivan driver was “cited for disregarding a red light.” No names were given.
