ALLEGAN MI (WKZO AM.FM) – The Allegan County Sheriff’s Department is continuing its investigation into a one-vehicle accident Friday night that killed a Hopkins man.
Deputies responded to the scene of the crash at around 9:45 pm Friday, and initial investigation found a pickup truck that had left the road and ended up in a ditch on 22nd Dr. north of the Hopkins village limit.
Further inquiries revealed that the pickup truck, driven by a Hopkins Township man, had gone out of control on a curve and overturned.
The man was ejected from the vehicle, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say that the victim was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident, and that alcohol may have been a factor.
The Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Michigan State Police, Gun Lake Tribal Police, Wayland EMS and Hopkins Fire Department.
