WASHINGTON (WHTC-AM/FM, Mar. 2, 2022) – The two men who currently represent the Lakeshore in the US House issued written statements following last night’s State of the Union address.
Six-term Republican Bill Huizenga of Zeeland said, in part, “While President Biden made impassioned statements, we must do more to help our Ukrainian Allies. At the same time, the Biden Administration must reverse its misguided energy policy here in the United States. Here at home, our nation faces challenges on multiple fronts. Unfortunately, whether it is securing the border, restoring supply chains, or reducing our nation’s $30 trillion debt, President Biden has failed to deliver tangible solutions. Americans are yearning for a return to normalcy. President Biden should rescind all of his various mandates and focus on policies that empower small business, incentivize workforce participation, and promote lasting and real economic growth.”
Eighteen-term Republican Fred Upton of St. Joseph said, in part, “I am disappointed at the lack of talk on how to counter the alarming threat of Putin. We need to use every tool in the toolbox, including immediately ending Russian Oil importation. The Biden administration’s energy policies have put us further behind and more reliant on countries, like Russia, for our energy needs. On a high note, I am pleased that the President raised our shared goal of faster cures for cancer and other devastating diseases.”
Due to the decisons by Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission, Huizenga and Upton are apparently going to be pitted against each other in the August 2nd GOP primary election in the newly-created 4th US House district.
