ALLENDALE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 21, 2022) – A 25-year-old Grand Rapids woman critically hurt in a single-vehicle crash southeast of Allendale on Saturday evening has succumbed to her injuries.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Eric Westveer, the motorist was driving her sedan west on Fillmore Street shortly after 8 PM and had just passed 48th Avenue when the vehicle crossed the center line, hit the left shoulder, and veered back onto the right shoulder, striking a large metal pipe alongside the roadway. She was pinned in the vehicle as a result of the crash, and after being extricated by rescue crews, was taken to Spectrum-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, where Westveer said on Monday morning that she had passed away. Her name wasn’t immediately disclosed.
The collision caused Fillmore Street to be closed for nearly three hours. The incident remains under investigation.
