HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 16, 2022) – A Home Heating Credit is available for the needy in Michigan.
The state Department of Treasury announced on Wednesday that applications for this assistance from Lansing are now being accepted. Low-income, deaf, disabled or blind persons, disabled veterans and senior citizens may qualify for receiving on average $193 per claimant, based on numbers over the past five years.
What about those whose income may be just above the ceiling for qualification, or are the proverbial square pegs that don’t fit the round holes that this program has established? “There will always be someone who is likely to fall just outside whatever boundaries we draw,” Daniel Unekis of Holland’s Community Action House said on “WHTC Talk of the Town” during an appearance on Wednesday. “We can look at those situations on a case-by-case basis, we can make exceptions, we can help when somebody clearly has the need, but they fall just outside of that boundary, we’re going to do what we can to make that happen.”
