JAMESTOWN TWP, MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 13, 2022) – Efforts are underway to construct a nearly eight and a half-mile mountain bike trail in southeast Ottawa County.
The Michigan’s Edge Mountain Biking Association last week announced a $500,000 fundraising campaign to bring “The Trail in Jamestown” to reality. According to the group’s statement, the single-track path just east of the 32nd Avenue-I-196 junction, “will provide an engaging, nature-based activity for park visitors of all ability levels. The plan proposes shared-use for both mountain bikers and pedestrians, with a diversity of trail difficulty levels created.”
The MEMBA is working with the International Mountain Biking Association on the design of this proposed trail, with the process for retaining a project contractor already underway. No timetable for when this effort will become a reality was immediately disclosed.
When completed, “The Trail in Jamestown” will be the ninth created by MEMBA in West Michigan, with another “Beechwood” trail under consideration.
