WOMEN’S TRACK/FIELD
In her first indoor 800-meter race of the season, Heleyna Tucker clocked a second-place effort for the Hope College women’s track and field on Friday at Aquinas College. The senior recorded a time of 2 minutes, 29.61 seconds. Teammate Erin Moran was fourth at 2:31.90. Tucker helped the split-squad Flying Dutch to a third-place total of 70.50 points. The event featured select teams from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the NAIA’s Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. Hope also posted runner-up efforts in the 3,000 meters and the shot put.
Hope College’s Greta Robrahn was chosen as the MIAA Women’s Field Athlete of the Week on Monday. The freshman thrower is claiming the honor for the first time in her career after improving on her indoor school record in the shot put at Grand Valley State University on Saturday.
MEN’S TRACK/FIELD
Runner Anders Bogard recorded two top-four performances to lead the Hope College men’s indoor track track and field team at Aquinas College on Friday. The Flying Dutchmen finished fifth out of nine teams in the split-squad meet with 58 teams. The event featured select teams from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the NAIA’s Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. Bogard clocked a second-place effort in the 3,000 meters of 9 minutes, 16.94 seconds. Teammate Ryan Allspach (Lansing, Michigan / Home School) was fourth at 9:30.83. In the 1-mile run, Bogard placed fourth. The junior posted a time of 4:31.67.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The third-ranked Hope College women’s basketball team continued its satisfying run in The Rivalry on Wednesday, downing Calvin University for a team-best 13th consecutive time with an 81-52 victory at Van Noord Arena in Grand Rapids. Hope (20-1 overall) recorded 18 assists on 30 baskets, including a team-high five from senior Sydney Muller. The Flying Dutch, who also defeated Alma College, 89-41, at home on Monday, remain tied for first place in the MIAA standings with Trine University. Hope’s next game is Saturday, Feb. 12, at 1 p.m. at Olivet College.
Hope College’s Olivia Voskuil was selected as the MIAA Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week on Monday. This is the senior civil engineering major’s fifth time receiving this honor in her career and the second this season. Voskuil scored a team-high 14 points during an 80-46 win vs. Saint Mary’s last week.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
The Hope College men’s basketball team fell at Trine University, 82-75, on Wednesday in a game that tightened the MIAA standings. Senior Jeff Bikus and the Flying Dutchmen are among four title contenders who are separated by one game with 1 1/2 weeks remaining in the regular season. Junior Evan Thomas led Hope (16-6, 9-2 MIAA) at Trine with a game-high 26 points. Trine rallied to the win by scoring 55 second-half points. The Flying Dutchmen play on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 3 p.m. at Olivet College.
MEN’S TENNIS
Jacob Burkett won his second consecutive match at No. 1 singles for the Hope College men’s tennis team during a 7-2 loss to Aquinas College on Friday at DeWitt Tennis Center. The junior defeated Joel Hancox, 7-5, 6-2. Burkett is now 2-1 in singles matches this spring and 4-3 overall. Hope is 1-3 overall.
Hope College’s Matt Henkel was chosen as the MIAA Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week on Monday. The junior business and economics major claimed the honor for the first time this season. Henkel went 2-0 in singles play last week for the Flying Dutchmen, including a three-set victory against NCAA Division II Davenport University.

Hope College’s Sydney Jackson was selected as the MIAA Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week. The senior biomed/ bioelectrical major earned points at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Flying Dutch during a season-opening, 6-3 victory against NCAA Division II Davenport University on Friday.
MEN’S SWIMMING
Hope College’s Conner Halberg was selected as the MIAA Men’s Swimming Athlete of the Week on Monday. The freshman set a new school record in the 200-yard freestyle, as he clocked a time of 1 minute, 38.94 seconds to help the Flying Dutchmen close the regular season with a dual-meet victory at Kalamazoo College.
