YANQING, China (Reuters) – Switzerland’s Beat Feuz was poised to win gold in the men’s downhill at the Beijing Olympics on Monday after the top 32 skiers had completed the course.
Feuz, winner at Kitzbuehel last month, powered down ‘The Rock’ in 1:42.69, with France’s 41-year-old Johan Clarey in the silver medal position just 0.10 behind and Austria’s Matthias Mayer set for bronze. Clarey would become the oldest Olympic medallist in alpine skiing.
