LEE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 5, 2022) – A motorist suffered “serious injuries” when a vehicle was found upside down and partially submerged in water in southern Allegan County on Friday night.
Sheriff’s Lieutenant Brett Ensfield didn’t initially disclose many details of the incident that occurred around 8 PM. “Allegan County Central Dispatch received a call that a vehicle crashed in Lee Township,” he said in a department statement. “The caller further advised that at least one person was trapped inside of the vehicle. Deputies were the first to arrive on the scene and immediately entered the water were able to force entry intro the vehicle … and remove the single trapped occupant.
“After getting the driver up the steep embankment, the driver was turned over to Lee Township Fire and Life EMS to be transported to the hospital,” Ensfield continued. “Deutpies and Lee Township Fire then conducted additional searches to confirm there were no additional victims. The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the citizen who also entered the water and provided assistance to the driver prior to deputies arriving on the scene.”
The incident remains under investigation.
