UNDATED (WHTC-AM/FM, Feb. 4, 2022) – Doubleheaders highlight the Friday night high school basketball slate along the Lakeshore.
At Saugatuck, the Trailblazers’ girls and boys are home to Lawton. Greg Chandler’s coverage begins at 5:40 PM on The Lakeshore’s 92 7 The Van. The other such twin-bill has Fennville’s teams at Martin.
Boys’-Girls’ doubleheaders include Coopersville versus Holland Christian at the Herringa Holland Civic Center and East Kentwood at West Ottawa.
Opposite fixtures have Zeeland East’s boys at Holland, with the Chix hosting the girls’ game; Muskegon’s boys at Zeeland West, with the Big Reds hosting the girls’ game; and Hamilton’s boys at West Catholic, with the Hawkeyes hosting the girls’ game.
Black River’s boys are at Wellspring prep to round out this evening’s slate.

Grand Valley State split a doubleheader in Sault Ste. Marie against Lake Superior State last night. Joslyn Brennan scored 14 points as the GVSU Lakers won the women’s opener, 78-21. Justin Fisher’s layup with 20 seconds left broke a 72-72 tie as the Soo Lakers took the men’s nightcap, 75-72. GVSU’s teams are in Big Rapids for games against the Bulldogs tomorrow afternoon.
In state major-college basketball last night, Central Michigan downed Western Michigan, 65-55, and Ohio stopped Eastern Michigan 81-68. This evening, the Detroit at Wright State and Oakland at Northern Kentucky games should be played after wintry weather postpones those contests last night.

Anthony Edwards had 25 points as the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves outscored the Pistons last night, 128-117. Detroit welcomes the Boston Celtics to Little Caesars Arena this evening.
Pascal Siakam tossed in 25 points with 13 rebounds as the Toronto Raptors outlasted the visiting Bulls in overtime last night, 127-120. Chicago faces the Indiana Pacers in Indianapolis this evening.

Both of Grand Rapids’ winter teams are in action tonight, with the Griffins entertaining the Ontario Reign at Van Andel Arena, and the Gold clashing with the Maine Celtics in Portland.
