Phaila Anongdeth passed away peacefully Friday, January 21st, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. He has had a long battle with Lymphoma Cancer 18 years ago and fought like a true soldier that he is. 18 years forward, Phaila came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Phaila was born in Laos on December 24th,1945 to Maimoun & Mone Anongdeth. He was one of 7 children. He graduated from Buddhist Temple school in 1963 and joined the military to serve in the Vietnam War and he’s a proud member of The American Legion of Holland, Michigan. In 1972 for 6 months he received a degree in Mechanical Design from Fort Belvoir in Fairfax, Virginia. He had a successful career and decided to take a different path and moved to America.
January 1981, Phaila left Laos to Thailand to start a new life with his wife Wanpen Lounchampa of 45 Years, they resided in Lansing Michigan in March of 1984. During his time in Lansing, he completed two Associate Degrees in Applied Science from Lansing Community College in Auto Mechanic and Machinist toolmaker. In 1994, he and his family relocated to Holland, Michigan to their forever home. He worked at BLD as a toolmaker.
In 2006, Phaila retired and spent most of his time traveling, gardening, enjoying his time with his family, his grandchildren, and great children. He also loves being a part of the Laotian Buddhist community of Holland. In addition, he’s a big foodie and occasionally likes to exercise at his own speed and rhythm.
He is survived by his wife, Wanpen Lounchampa , six children Phaivorn(Souksavanh), Phaimany, Phaisith(Valetha), Phaisone(Sovann), Phainorin, Phaiphin(Mark); eleven grandchildren, Debbie(David), Jayden, Jonathan, Joseph, Tessa, Tiffany, Brian, Brandon, Alvin, Noah and Adalynn, two great children; EmmaLynn and Kinley. Lastly loved by many family members, friends, and colleagues from the community.
Funeral services will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 East 16th Street, Holland Michigan 49423. Visitation will be from 11:00am until 12:30pm.
