GRAND HAVEN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 28-year-old Holland man was hurt in a single-vehicle crash south of Grand Haven overnight (Sat. Jan. 15, 2022).
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Smoes, deputies and first responders were dispatched to US-31 and Pierce Street at 3:40 AM. “The investigation at the scene showed that the driver was northbound on US-31 when he fell asleep,” Smoes said in a department statement. “His SUV then went into the median and hit a tree on the driver side of the vehicle. Grand Haven Township Fire Rescue assisted in extricating the driver, who was the only occupant in the SUV, and he was taken by EMS to North Ottawa Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”
The crash remains under investigation.
