Pier Bouke Wielenga, finished his life’s journey on earth peacefully and quietly and moved to his heavenly abode with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 12, 2022. His wife, Martha, had preceded him to their eternal home.
He leaves behind his five children: Nancy in Holland, MI, Phil, and Marni Wielenga in Traverse City, MI, Lydia Murray in Bellaire, MI, Tom and Sue in Hollywood Beach, FL, and Susan and Joseph Mahan in Ocala, FL. He also was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Ben, Dan, Jenny (Wielenga) Young, Corrie, Nate, Sam Wielenga, Hana (Murray) Pavlov, Erin Murray, Bethany, Rosaleen, and Colin Mahan, and 12 great-grandchildren. Also, surviving is his brother-in-law Richard Grau of Schoolcraft and numerous nieces and nephews
Pier was born to Johannes and Hinke (Spyksma) Wielenga in Zeeland, MI, on April 19, 1926.
Pier was a veteran of WWII, but he entered late and served only briefly in the European theatre.
He worked for several years at Chris-Craft corporation before he met and married Martha (Grau) in June 1949.
Pier, with Martha, raised their children in Zeeland, MI and he retired as a postal worker from the Zeeland, MI, post office. He and his family attended the Holland Gospel Chapel and for many years he was involved in the leadership there. He had a heart to give whenever he could and blessed many charities whose activities he endorsed.
His helpfulness, humor, patience, prayers, and thoughtful conversations will be missed by his family and friends. Goodbye Dad, Grandpa, Great-grandpa, Uncle, Brother-in-law, Friend. We will miss you!
A funeral service will be held at noon, Saturday, January 22, 2022, at the Holland Gospel Chapel, 106 West 26th Street, Holland, MI, 49423. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service at the Chapel. Interment will be in North Holland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Holland Gospel Chapel.
