WRIGHT TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 46-year-old Grandville man was injured in a two-machine snowmobile crash in an area east of Coopersville on Wednesday (Jan. 5, 2022) evening.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Keith Biros, deputies and first responders were dispatched to a spot along the Muskatawa Trail, near Cleveland Street and 24th Avenue, shortly after 7 PM. “The investigation shows the injured driver rear-ended another snowmobile that had stopped on the trail ahead of him, which threw him from his snowmobile,” Biros said in a department statement. “This was caused by low visibility from the weather conditions. No alcohol is suspected in relation to this accident.”
The unnamed Grandville man was taken to an undisclosed local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, and both he and the other snowmobiler, identified only as a 39-year-old Grand Rapids man who was not hurt, were helmeted at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.
