HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — More than 6,000 Ottawa County residents are known to have COVID-19, according to county health department records updated publicly yesterday afternoon. Since the pandemic started, 55,543 Ottawa County residents have been diagnosed with the virus; more people have gotten ill who were not tested and others, who tested positive using home-test kits, may not have reported results to county officials.
Allegan County’s dashboard has not been updated since Dec. 22, 2021. The death toll at the time was 268.
State records indicate 25,858 more Michiganders have tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday and Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021. Another 338 deaths, including five in Ottawa County, were documented during that time. In all, 26,988 Michigan residents have died from COVID-19 since March 2020.
Holland Hospital’s dashboard shows 26 patients currently admitted for treatment of severe COVID-19 symptoms. Since march, when vaccines became available, 59 patients have died; 54 of those had not been vaccinated.
Spectrum Health’s dashboard indicated 385 people hospitalized for COVID-19 treatments, of which 101 adults and seven children were in intensive care units. Four other children were admitted for care but not in an ICU, as were 273 adults.
