SPRING LAKE TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Two Muskegon men in their 20’s suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash east of Spring Lake early on Christmas (Dec. 25, 2021) morning.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Jon Smoes, deputies and first responders were dispatched to 148th Avenue south of Kelly Street shortly after midnight. “Investigation at the scene showed that a 23-year-old male was driving south bound on 148th Avenue in a Jeep Grand Cheerokee when he drifted off the right hand side of the road,” Smoes said in a department statement. “While driving in the ditch the Jeep struck a raised driveway, became airborne, and struck two trees, causing both occupants to become pinned in the vehicle.”
First responders were able to extricated the driver and a 24-year-old passenger, who where then taken to an undisclosed Muskegon area hospital for treatment. The crash remains under investigation.
