Marion Hoeve, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away on Saturday, December 18 at his home in Holland Township. Marion was born in Zeeland Township to John and Gertie Hoeve and was the ninth of eleven children.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Judy; his children Craig Hoeve, KayLynn (Tom) Beltman, Shari (Brian) DeRoos, Karen Young, Kevin (Lisa) Hoeve, Marcy (Doug) Grayson, and James (Diana) Albers; his twenty grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; his siblings Herman Hoeve, Martha VanderPloeg, Joyce Stempfly, Evelyn (Harverd) Hoekje, Gloria (Lou) Culver, Mary Lou (Merle) Bremer, Nancy Corvers, Sally (John) Janssen, and Larry (Jackie) Slagh; his mother-in-law Eleanor Slagh and his sister-in-law Marge Hoeve.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Marjorie Anderson, Harvey Hoeve, Howard Hoeve, Carolyn Harsevoort, and Roger Hoeve, and his daughter, Kathy Merrill.
Marion worked his whole life to care for his family and his community. He was a founding member of the Holland Township Planning Commission and an active member of his church for over 50 years. He loved lending his time and talents to help others, whether it was completing a construction project, using his accounting knowledge, working the polls on voting days, tutoring children, or working on mission trips. He was someone who could always be depended on, and his hugs were legendary.
Visitation will be on Monday, December 20 from 5 to 7 pm at Langeland Sternberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland. The family is requiring that masks be worn for visitation. Burial will be in North Holland Cemetery. A private family celebration of Marion’s life will be Tuesday, December 21. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Holland.
