HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Twelve-year industrial tax breaks will take up a significant part of Holland City Council’s agenda tonight.
The last regular study session and business meeting of 2021 includes a review of four 12-year tax-abatement requests, from Hudsonville Creamery & Ice Cream Co., 345 E. 48th St., for a $33,642,728 expansion; MG88 Holland Cold Storage, LLC, 1870 Transport Lane, for a $25,113,938, new facility; Sur-loc Aluminum Edging, Inc. for a $1,138,000 expansion at 310 E. 64th St.; and a speculative tax-abatement for a seven-unit 38,400-square-foot building planned by Electric Steel, LLC., 72 W. 64th St., at a projected cost of $3,153,000.
Members of council will also honor Holland resident Lupita Reyes with a resolution, honoring her efforts to help the community at large, which includes founding and co-hosting West Michigan’s first Spanish-language program, Alegria Latina, 927thevan.com/shows-alegria-latina, 57 years ago. Reyes, 84, is stepping down from the radio show, which airs Sunday evenings on 927 The Van, but has promised to return for guest appearances and continue her community activism.
