HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A Holland High School student removed from school after an alleged social media post caused students and parents to report the post to school officials and the state-run OK2SAY tip line.
Interim superintendent Nick Cassidy, in a note posted to the district’s website hollandpublicschools.org/Core/News/Article/2078, indicated no weapons were found and no one was injured.
School officials and police contacted the student’s guardian, according to Cassidy, and the student won’t be allowed back to classes until an investigation is completed.
“Threats like these are scary for us all,” Cassidy wrote. “However, we are proud of the students and parents who spotted the social media post and had the courage to immediately report it to administrators and through OK2Say. We are also thankful to the building administrators and to the School Resource Officer for taking the appropriate and immediate action to ensure the safety of our students and staff.”
His note went on to say that district officials take school safety “very seriously and will continue to employ safety protocols at all of our buildings in the district. We will also err on the side of over-communicating with you; to help alleviate your concerns about these types of threats.”
Cassidy also included a reminded that Michigan’s OK2Say program, michigan.gov/ok2say, is available 24/7:
