Ernest (Ernie) Dallas Walton, age 84 of Holland, passed away peacefully at home with his family and his beloved dog Chelsea at his side.
Ernie was born in Pittsburg, PA and moved to Holland with his family as a baby. He worked for Thermotron Industries and retired in 1999. After retirement, Ernie enjoyed gardening, working around the house, and watching NASCAR and football (always cheering on the Steelers). He loved driving and took many trips back to Pittsburg when he was able to. His favorite trips were driving the grandkids down to Disney World on many occasions. Ernie enjoyed his daily breakfast at the Wooden Shoe Restaurant where he was treated like royalty. Many afternoons were spent on adventures with his brother Wayne looking for a good beer brewery to try (maybe even taking in a few sweet potato fries). Ernie was a hardworking, kind, generous man and will be missed immensely.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rose and Dallas Walton; a niece Jennifer Owen; and his ex-wife Cathy Walton
Ernie is survived by his brother and sister Wayne and Shari Walton, and Rose and Ken Luth, both of Holland; 3 daughters Theresa (Terri) DeVries, Lisa Walton, and Victoria (Vicki) Wallace, all of Holland; 7 grandchildren, Nicole DeVries of Fennville, Sebastian and Evan Hinze of Grand Rapids, Jonathan and Hu Biolette of Seattle, Maggie Wallace of Holland, and David Wallace of Grand Rapids; 8 great-grandchildren, Jonnta, Jathen, Markel, Lazarias, Aaliyah, Lily, Skylar, and Jayden; 4 nephews Michael, Ed, Steve and Jeff; many extended family and friends.
A memorial visitation to celebrate Ernie’s life will be Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 5-7:00pm at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St., Holland.
Memorial contributions in memory of Ernie may be made to Hospice of Holland, St. Francis De Sales Church, or to the Harbor Humane Society.
