JAMESTOWN TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 20-year-old Hudsonville man was injured in a single-vehicle crash west of his hometown on Monday (Dec. 13, 2021) evening.
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Michael Hallmeyer, deputies and first responders were dispatched to Chicago Drive (M-121) near 48th Avenue around 5:25 PM. “Upon arrival, they discovered (the driver) had been eastbound on Chicago Drive when he fell asleep,” Hallmeyer said in a department statement. “His vehicle drifted into the median and crashed into a tree. He was initially pinned in the vehicle, but extricated with help from several area fire departments.”
An initial diagnosis at the scene indicated that the unnamed motorist had suffered a broken leg as a result of the crash, and he was taken to University of Michigan Health-West “for additional evaluation and treatment,” according to Hallmeyer, who added that the crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
