Grand Valley State won a pair of games in Hammond from host Purdue Northwest last night. Rylie Bisballe, Ellie Droste and Emily Spitzley each had 14 points as the Lakers took the women’s opener 73-49. Christian Negron tallied 21 points as the men beat the Pride in the nightcap, 81-76. GVSU’s teams are in Kenosha to take on the Parkside Rangers tomorrow afternoon.
In state major-college basketball last night, Kent State downed Detroit, 69-52.

Nathan Walker scored his first three goals of the season to power the St. Louis Blues past the visiting Red Wings last night, 6-2. Detroit travels to Denver for an encounter with the Colorado Avalanche this evening.
The Blackhawks got goals from Henrik Borgstrom and Jonathan Toews, while Marc Andre-Fleury made 30 saves, in a 2-0 shutout of the Canadiens in Montreal last night. Chicago skates in Toronto against the Maple Leafs tomorrow evening.
