Marjorie Lou Gras, 84 of Zeeland, MI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 4, 2021, surrounded by her children. Marjorie was born on October 29, 1937, to William and Florence Garvelink of Holland, MI. She is a graduate of Holland Christian High School.
February 26, 1960, she married Howard Gras and together they were long-time members of Faith Reformed Church. Marjorie loved the Lord, participating in many Bible Studies and was an avid member of the Sunday school class. She worked for many years as an Administrative Assistant at General Electric and ended her career and retired from Haworth. She loved all things crafts and it didn’t matter what it was. If she didn’t know how to do it, she was eager to figure it out.
Marjorie was preceded in death in 2019, by her husband Howard Gras. She was also preceded in death by her sister Susan Heinlein; and brother-in-law Jerry Lubbers.
Marjorie is survived by her children: Bryan Gras and Marikay Dobbins of Holland, Brenda (Gras) and Scott Pegg of Jenison and Barb (Gras) and Todd Chalmers of Hudsonville. Her grandchildren: Andrew Gras of Colorado and Lauren (Gras) and Brandon Wandell of Ohio, Joshua and Katelyn Pegg of Hudsonville and Emily (Pegg) and Spencer Jacobson of California, Nathan and Tyler Chalmers of Hudsonville. Great Grandchildren: Evan, Theo, and Owen Wandell and Elliana, and Lincoln Pegg.
Other survivors include her sister Beverly Lubbers, brother Ambassador William and Linda Garvelink, brother-in-law Paul Heinlein, brother-in-law Jerry Gras, sister-in-law Marcia and Glenn Veldheer, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the Resthaven / Maple Wood Cottages staff for the loving care they gave to Marjorie during her stay. They appreciate the time you took to personally get to know her, as well as her family. It meant everything to us!
Visitation will be Friday, December 10, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 at Lakeshore Memorial, 11939 James St., Holland. Funeral services will be on Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Faith Reformed Church, 220 W. Central Ave. Zeeland.
