Donald Ebels, 89 Years Old, West Olive, MI passed away into glory on December 5, 2021, at his home.
Don was born in Holland, MI to Dan and Bessie Ebels on May 19, 1932. He grew up on a farm in North Holland with his family before studying at Ferris State and Michigan State University. He served in the Korean War from 1952-1954. After returning home, he married Nancy Hanson. He worked at Hart & Cooley for 25 years in manufacturing as an engineer.
Don served his church, Harlem Reformed, his entire life in many different ways. From being a Sunday School teacher to youth leader, Elder, and Deacon. He did it all with love in his heart for the Lord.
Family was very important to Don. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always his top priority. In his free time he enjoyed playing and coaching softball for several nieces, golfing, bowling, hunting, traveling, and enjoyed working in his garden and yard.
His quiet and gentle soul filled the room and he was always up for a conversation about the latest news story or a simple golf game.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Nancy. He is survived by his children; Terry (Lisa) Ebels, Timothy Ebels, Dean (Linda) Ebels; son-in-law, Dave (Susan) Peterson; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer (Brian) Ryckbost, Sarah (Nate) DeHaan, Benjamin Peterson, Marissa Ebels, Liam Peterson, Matthew Ebels; 4 great-grandchildren, Ava Ryckbost, Roland Ryckboat, Rudy Ryckbost, Norah DeHaan; brother, Bob (Marilyn) Ebels; and sister-in-law Mary Ebels.
Don is preceded in death by his parents Dan & Bessie Ebels; siblings, Annabelle (Floyd) VanDenBelt, Jason (Esther) Ebels, Pauline (Claude) Rouwhorst, Bernie (Jean) Ebels, Maxine (June) Hop, Glenn Ebels; daughter, Brenda Peterson; grandson, Michael Ebels.
Funeral service with military honors will be held at Harlem Reformed Church, 6854 144th Ave., Holland, MI on Friday, December 10 at 11:00 am. Nephew Rev. Bob Neinhuis will be officiating. Visitation will be held at Harlem Reformed Church on Thursday, December 9 from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bethany Christian Services at 11335 James St, Holland, MI.
