HOLLAND TWP., MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – A 58-year-old Hudsonville man was injured after apparently “blacking out” behind the wheel of his big rig on Holland’s North Side late on Friday morning (Dec. 3, 2021).
According to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sergeant Matt Wildfong, deputies and first responders were dispatched to Quincy Street east of 112th Avenue at 11:49 AM on a report of a semi that had rolled over into a ditch, and its driver pinned in. “Investigation shows that the trucker was driving east of Quincy when he blacked out,” Wildfong said in a department statement. “He said that he woke up after crashing into the ditch.”
The unnamed trucker was taken to an undisclosed “area” hospital for treatment of injuries that “are not life-threatening,” according to Wildfong. Quincy Street was closed for a period of time due to clean up of the crash, which remains under investigation.
