Beverly (“Bev”) J. Sharp, age 92, of Douglas, died Friday, November 26th, 2021 at her home, following a lengthy battle with recurrent Transient Ischemic Attacks.
Bev was born and raised on a farm in the Plymouth area. Even as a girl she had a beautiful voice, and sang on the radio, a fact that even some of her closest friends didn’t realize until recently. She attended college at Eastern Michigan University and went on to earn a Master’s degree in education. She served as a beloved high school English teacher during the early years of her career, but then switched gears, in her mid-thirties, and entered the field of social work, after earning a Master’s degree in social work from the University of Michigan. She worked for many years at Pontiac State Hospital, and also in private practice, as a therapist. She loved this work. Finally, she retired to her beloved Lake Michigan and enjoyed many happy retirement years with wonderful friends from the past, who came to visit from across the state, as well as many wonderful new friends from the Saugatuck Douglas area. She will be remembered fondly for her years of entertaining at her Douglas cottage.
