HOLLAND, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – After nearly five full years on the job, it’s time to “pass the baton” for Sara Cozolino as Market Master at the Holland Farmers Market.
Although vendors were aware of this development, Cozolino used her weekly update on “WHTC Morning News” on Wednesday (Nov. 24, 2021) to announce her departure from her leadership post. “I think it’s great to have fresh energy and fresh eyes,” she explained. “I helped the market through some construction and different COVID things, and I think it’s just a good time to pass the baton. I have a few other concerns, including my own side jobs and my own business, so I’m just going to refocus on those efforts for myself.”
Cozolino saw the growth of farmers markets in general and the Holland Farmers Market in particular during her five years as Market Master. “People understand the impact and the value of supporting local fresh food,” she said. “You can speak directly to the farmer, the farmer can hand you the food – I think that this more than just a trend but is here to stay.”
Marcia Schrotenboer, who had been the Market Master Assistant, is being promoted to the Market Master’s post. “I’ll be around,” Cozolino added. “I keep telling the vendors that I still will be around, but I just won’t be on the clock. I love the market; I fully support fresh, local healthy food. ”
The Holland Farmers Market holds its final Wednesday session of the 2021 season before being a Saturday-only event in the 8th Street Marketplace (9 AM to 1 PM) through December 18th.
