HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Holland City Council is set to meet at 6 p.m. today at Holland City Hall, 270 S. River Ave.
One of the first orders of business involves choosing a Mayor pro tem, as long-time city councilman and Holland native Mike Trethewey retired from public office.
Tim Vreeman ran unopposed to replace Trethewey as First Ward councilman. Belinda Coronado replaces Third Ward Councilman Raul Garcia, who didn’t seek re-election in order to spend more time with his young family.
Council members will then discuss a $1 million tax-abatement request from JR Automation Technologies, LLC., 701 Waverly Road. Company officials said they’ll add 28 jobs by 2024. The property renovation is set to be completed over the next year.
Sure-Loc Aluminum Edging, Inc., 310 E 64th St., has requested a $1.3 million tax abatement for a renovation that will lead to three full-time jobs and one part-time job being added in the two years after the construction wraps.
Council will also review the latest set of suggested edits to the Unified Development Plan, commonly referred to at “the UDO.” Each round of edits on the agenda is set for a public hearing before being approved.
The complete agenda and packet are available online at https://cityofholland.civicweb.net/document/142774.
Meetings are streamed online for those who cannot attend in person.
