- How zoning impacts unfair housing practices. The 15th Annual Lakeshore Fair Housing conference on Nov. 18 conference will discuss the connection between zoning and unfair housing practices.
- ODC opens crowdfunded natural play space. The new Sally Smoly Nature Playscape at Holland’s Window on the Waterfront is the downtown’s first play space, and the Outdoor Discovery Center has more planned.
- From gardens to festivals, city’s mini-grants make neighborhood living better. The city of Holland’s neighborhood mini-grants are making neighborhoods more livable, and they’re still available.
- Holland Boys & Girls Club to use $50K grant to advance digital equity. The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Holland will use a $50,000 grant to help advance digital equity for more Holland students and families.
- The Lakeshore Art Festival wins the 2021 Pure Award. The festival is centered around positive social, economic, and environmental impacts that complement the revitalization of Muskegon as a tourist attraction and a great place to live, work, and play, says Festival Director Carla Flanders.

Enjoy downtown Christmas open houses with gift guides, special sales, refreshments, and a visit with Santa. - Nov. 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, 28 (Performances are 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 3 p.m.), Every Christmas Story Ever Told … (and then some!), Beardsley Theater, 425 W. Western Ave., Muskegon. Instead of performing Charles Dickens’ beloved holiday classic for the umpteenth time, three actors decide to perform every Christmas story ever told — and include Christmas traditions from around the world, seasonal icons from ancient times, topical pop culture, and every carol ever sung.
