Bradley Batjes, age 48, of Zeeland, unexpectedly passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021, and is now at peace with his heavenly father.
Brad was born on February 21, 1973, to Maynard (Mike) and Karen Batjes of Holland, MI. He graduated from West Ottawa High School in 1992, enrolled in the Careerline Tech Center Engineering Design and Machine Technologies program, and went on to earn his journeyman machinist certification. He was also an extremely talented fabricator and welder who took great pride in his work. As a young man, he engineered and fabricated dune buggies and Jeeps and spent many summer weekends driving the dunes at Silver Lake. Many wondered if he would get his head out of an engine long enough to notice girls, but he met Bonnie VanderVeen-Mokma in 2004 and they were married on January 19, 2007. Brad genuinely loved people and everyone he met he considered a friend. He was quick to offer his time and abilities to anyone who needed help. He enjoyed cooking BBQ, building BBQ smokers and he loved to feed a crowd. In recent years, some of his favorite activities were working on projects at home, camping, and flying RC airplanes. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
