Philip William Hanscom, 88, of South Haven, MI passed away Tuesday, November 9, 2021, peacefully at home. Born December 7, 1932, in Madison, WI, he was the son of the late Clarence and Esther (Gullickson) Hanscom and the husband of Janet (Summers) Hanscom. Mr. Hanscom retired as a senior lab technician after thirty-nine years of employment with Mead Johnson (now Bristol-Myers-Squib). Founding member of the Holland Modular Train Club, a member of the Lakeshore (Saugatuck) Train Club. Mr. Hanscom was an incredibly humble and selfless man. At any time of the day or night, he would drop whatever he was doing to help someone else, especially if it were one of his grandchildren. Mr. Hanscom would give all that he was able, to someone in need, even the shirt off his own back. Maybe his acts of kindness came from being a Boy Scout with the Boy Scouts of America during his younger years. He was the best husband, dad, grandpa, and friend to many and will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife of over forty-eight years, Mr. Hanscom is survived by his children, Amy (Jeff) Faber, Natalie Mika (Scott Hickey), Autumn (Fernando) Iglesias, and Wendy (Mike) Wyatt; grandchildren, Sydney Faber, Keenan Faber, Noah Munley-Hanscom, Alexis Resseguie, Marty Resseguie, Brenden Horton, Morgan (Andrew) Blaser, and Keegan Wyatt; and his faithful canine companion, Rowdy. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his baby sister, Natalie Hanscom.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Andrea, Rachel, Wendi, and Cynthia with Spectrum Health Hospice for their love and care throughout this difficult journey.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and services will take place privately.
