Sherwin Roy Boersen, age 81, went to be with his Lord & Savior on Sunday, November 14, 2021, in Zeeland, Michigan.
He was born July 27, 1940, in Bentheim, Michigan to Marvin and Bertha (Schra) Boersen. With brother Jack, Sherwin was a childhood polio survivor. He graduated from Zeeland High School and with a B.S. in Accounting from Davenport University. Sherwin served his country in the Army National Guard and was employed as an accountant for over 40 years. He co-founded Peace Reformed Church in Zeeland and was active at Grace Church in Zeeland until his passing. Sherwin enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, camping, following the Tigers, spending time with family, and especially the company of his grandchildren whom he adored.
Sherwin is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Norma (Yonker) Boersen; children, Brad & Julie (Dorsey) Boersen of Corning, New York; Jill & Keith Van Eck of Zeeland, Michigan; Mark & Emily (Clark) Boersen of Roscommon, Michigan; grandchildren Holly & Emma; Tate, Chase & Piper; Avery, Connor & Parker; his brothers, Vernon (Marilyn) Boersen; Irvin Boersen; Jack (Bev) Boersen; brother and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Bernard & Juliet (Nyhuis) Yonker; brother-in-law, Calvin Yonker; sister-in-law, Irene (Warren) Boersen; and niece, Kimberly Veenhuis (Yonker).
Visitation with the family is 4:00 – 6:00 pm on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Yntema Funeral Home 251 S. State St. Zeeland, MI 49464.
Funeral services are scheduled for noon on Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at Grace Family Church 9530 Woodbridge Street, Zeeland, Michigan 49464 officiated by Rev. Ron VerWys and will include military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy (PPMD), Zeeland Hospital Foundation, or Holland/Zeeland Foundation.
Burial to take place in Zeeland Cemetery.
