HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A distracted driver is being blamed for a Wednesday crash in Park Township that landed three people in Holland Hospital’s emergency room.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Greg Rotman indicated the crash happened just after 6:30 p.m. Nov. 10, 2021. Park Township firefighters assisted deputies called to the scene.
The investigation shows that a 31-year-old Muskegon man, driving a 2013 Dodge Dart north on Butternut Drive near 148th Avenue, got distracted by his phone, according to Rotman.
As a consequence, the Dart crossed the centerline, hitting a southbound 2021 Ford Expedition with a 37-year-old Utah man at the wheel.
The Muskegon man went by AMR ambulance to Holland Hospital for treatment of what police called non-life-threatening injuries. North Ottawa Ambulance raced two passengers in the Ford, a 50-year-old Utah woman and a 46-year-old Idaho man, to Holland Hospital for treatment of their injuries, also described by police as non-life-threatening. The Ford’s driver wasn’t physically injured, according to police.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation by Sheriff’s officials.
