Louis John Stempfly III, age 88, passed away on Saturday, November 06, 2021.
Louis taught for Hamilton Schools for over 20 years. He enjoyed his weekly participation in the Men’s Prayer breakfast every Wednesday. In the summer months, he enjoyed sailing and, in the winter, he was an avid Hope College basketball fan. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Stempfly; brother-in-law, Paul VanderPloeg; brother-in-law, Harvey Hoeve; sister-in-law, Carolyn Harsevoort and John Harsevoort; brother-in-law, Roger, and Helene Hoeve; and sister-in-law, Majorie Anderson.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce Stempfly; daughter, Diane and Tom Swindell; son, David and Saly Stempfly; granddaughters Katie Twa and Isabelle Stempfly; grandsons Joe Twa, Conner Swindell, and Caden Swindell; brother, Paul and Peggy Stempfly; brother-in-law, Herman Hoeve; sister-in-law, Martha VanderPloeg; brother-in-law, Marion, and Judy Hoeve; sister-in-law, Evelyn, and Harverd Hoekje; sister-in-law, Gloria, and Louis Culver; sister-in-law, Marjorie Hoeve; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are planned for 11:00 am on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Hope Church RCA, 77 West 11th St. Holland, MI 49423, officiated by Rev. Gordon Wiersma and Rev. Jill Russell. A time of visitation with the family will precede the service and begin at 10:00 am, also at the church.
Burial to take place in Zeeland Cemetery.
