Martina Grimaldo Villarreal, age 80, of Holland, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2021, at her daughter Melissa’s home in Holland, Michigan. Martina was born in Big Spring, Texas in 1940 and raised near Fresno, CA where she met her husband Pedro. They raised their four children in Brownfield, TX, and Holland, MI, and recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Martina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who liked spending time sewing, doing puzzles, and especially caring for her family. She made such a positive impact on the lives of her family, friends, coworkers, and others that had the benefit of knowing Martina.
She was preceded in death by her parents Estanislado and Tules Grimaldo; siblings, Domingo Grimaldo, Miguel Grimaldo, Alicia Zavala and Arturo Grimaldo. Martina is survived by her husband Pedro; children, Steve (Gloria) Villarreal, David (Gabriela) Villarreal, John (Sheila) Villarreal and Melissa (Pete) DeHaan; grandchildren, David Allen (Nicole) Villarreal, Brandon (Ann) Foley, Erik DeHaan, Sarah DeHaan, Mark DeHaan, Maggie Villarreal, Steven Villarreal, and Cecelia Villarreal; great-grandchildren, Grace Foley, Elizabeth Foley, and Ellyana Ash. Surviving siblings, Susan Serrano, Rufus (Diane) Grimaldo, David (Gilda) Grimaldo, Vera (Pete) Mesa, Margie (Richard) Valenzuela, and Esmeralda Grimaldo; as well as, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive visitors on Monday, November 8, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, at the Dykstra Funeral Home – Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street, Holland. A funeral ceremony will be held following visitation at 1:00 pm at the funeral home. Father Charlie Brown will preside over the ceremony. Interment in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the auspices of the Mulder Chapel.
