Esther Bernice Mulder, age 91, of Holland, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 30, 2021. She passed peacefully, with family by her side after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born on March 8, 1930, in Chico, California. Following graduation from Chico High School, she moved to Portland, Oregon where she attended Multnomah School of Bible and graduated in 1951. From there she went to Wisconsin where she worked with New Tribes Mission.
While in Wisconsin, she met the love of her life, Arthur Francis Mulder, and the two were married on October 29, 1955. Together Esther and Art served as missionaries in Panama for four years. They returned to the United States and settled in Holland in 1963 with their four children.
They continued their ministry as a part of the newly formed Macedonia Bautista in Fennville, (with the church, ultimately relocating to Holland), where Esther taught Sunday school and sang duets with Art. She shared her love of music while singing and playing the piano and autoharp.
She was an avid gardener, a seamstress, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be deeply missed by those who survive, including:
Arthur Mulder, her husband of 66 years; sons: Philip (Robin), Peter (Sally), Hanzel (Linda) from Holland and daughter Laura of Pendleton, IN; grandchildren: Greg (Shannon) Mulder, Chad (Jill) Mulder, Casey (Megan) Mulder, Bradley (Suzanne) Mulder, Rachael (Tyler) Folkert, Sarah (Jacob) Revor, Curtis (Alicia) Mulder, Ryan (Lindsey) Mulder, Derek Mulder, Elliot (Jessica) Mulder; blessed with 24 great-grandchildren and two on the way; brother, Glenn Graybiel of Chico, CA; sisters-in-law: Dorothy Roark of Shelby, N.C., Nadine Graybiel of Chico, CA, Joan Mulder of St. Louis, MI.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Immanuel Church, 325 104th Ave, Holland, MI 49423. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, November 5, at Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 East 16th Street, Holland, MI 49423.
