HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Distracted driving is being blamed for a crash that sent a 73-year-old Hudsonville woman to St. Mary’s Hospital, according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chris Koster.
He said deputies, dispatched to the crash scene on Port Sheldon Street near Cottonwood Drive just after 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, had to close the street for the emergency response and crash investigation.
Police learned the woman had been driving west on Port Sheldon Street when she became distracted. Her car ran off the pavement, hitting a road sign, then a utility pole then rolling into the westbound lane of Port Sheldon, stopping upside down.
Life EMS took her to St. Mary’s for treatment of what Koster indicated were non-life-threatening injuries.
