Beth Wolthuis, 63, of Saugatuck, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021, at home with her beloved husband by her side who will continue to honor her legacy by living life to the fullest. Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, she was the daughter of Wallace and JoEllen (Strong) Miller and the wife of Ted Wolthuis for over 40 years.
Beth was always full of energy and creativity, whether that consisted of cooking in the kitchen, contributing design ideas on the Houzz website, braiding a Kumihomo pillow or necklace, organizing an art league to introduce new techniques and ideas to over 200 members or creating a one-of-a-kind Zentangle pattern. Her beautiful smile, engaging laugh, and wonderful sense of humor lit up a room. Her compassion for childhood hunger led her to volunteer thousands of hours hand-crafting lunch bags for Kids Food Basket. On her own, Beth loved gardening and aqua fitness, yet she and Ted were fortunate to spend a great deal of time together traveling the world, golfing, and riding their tandem bike. Visiting over 30 countries, some of Beth’s favorite places were Morocco, where she rode a camel and slept in the Sahara Desert, Southern Patagonia included standing at the tip of Cape Horn while observing multiple rainbows and the Atlantic and Pacific ocean currents merging, Scandinavia, Russia, and Croatia.
Not only married, Beth and Ted were truly best friends. She was a blessing and the memories they made together will surround him with her love forever.
Along with her parents, Wally and Jo Miller, and husband Ted, Beth is survived by her two sisters, Jan (Steve) Spangler and Sue (Jeff) Gehres, sister-in-law Ruth (Gary) VanderLaan, mother-in-law Ann Wolthuis and many nieces and nephews.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Chappell Funeral Home on Thursday, October 28, 2021, from 5 PM to 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Beth’s name to Kids Food Basket Holland, PO Box 1045, Holland, MI 49422.
