HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — Zeeland Township firefighters put out a small fire in the basement of Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital early Tuesday morning, according to hospital officials. No one was hurt and no evacuations were needed, according to a Spectrum Zeeland spokeswoman, Ashley Kiekintveld.
The call for service came at 12:30 a.m. Oct. 19, 2021. Firefighters found a small fire in a basement room devoted to environmental services and were able to contain and extinguish it in that room, Kiekintveld said, in an email to WHTC.
“Patients and team members remained our top priority and were not in danger at any point during the incident, nor did any evacuation take place,” Kiekintveld’s email said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
