Paul D. Burch “Officer Burch”, age 90 of Holland, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2021, at home following a brief battle with cancer.
Paul was born November 23, 1930, in Grand Rapids to Harry and Florence (Green) Burch. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Paul worked at Grocers Dairy (now Country Fresh), then as a police officer for over 32 years for the Holland Police Department, earning the Officer of the Year award, and also the West Michigan Officer of the Year, prior to his retirement. Paul was a member of Central Park Church, and the American Legion, the F.O.P, and the Experimental Aircraft Association.
Paul was preceded in death by son-in-law Joe Kain; great-grandson Simon Kain; brothers Robert Burch and Herb Lindsay; sister Nila Boulden; in-laws Ed Dalstra and Donna Pipes.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Rosalyn “Rosie” Burch; children, Paul (Julie) Burch, Brenda Kain, Lori (Royce) Parker, and Pattie (Alvin) Van Den Beldt; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; Sister-in-law Jean (Joe) Jordan; Several extended family and friends.
Visitation will be October 28, 2021, from 6-8:00 pm at Lakeshore Memorial Services, 11939 James St.
A memorial service to celebrate Paul’s life will be at 11:00 am, October 30, 2021, at Central Park Church. Officiating will be Rev. Kevin Kleinheksel.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Holland or the American Legion.
