Richard Wiley, age 67 of Holland, passed away on Tuesday, October 12th, 2021.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Wiley.
Surviving is his wife, Rhonda; children, Ashley and Andy Van Slooten and Amber Wiley; 2 granddaughters, Autumn Van Slooten and Amelia Van Slooten; father, Kenneth Wiley; siblings, Jean Wiley, Jan (Keith) Parrott, Ken (Heidi) Wiley, Don (Sue) Wiley, and Doug (Amanda) Wiley; brother-in-law, Loren (Lynn) Schipper.
Rick was born and raised in Holland, MI. He graduated from West Ottawa in 1973 and attended Muskegon Business College, where he obtained an associate’s degree in 1975.
Rick’s dad, Ken Wiley, started Wiley’s Cleaning Service in 1952, where Rick began working at a very young age. Rick eventually took over operations and ownership of the family business that continued through 2021.
Rick and his wife, Rhonda, were married August 14th, 1982, and have been married for 39 years. They have been members of Christ Memorial Church for over 40 years. They loved to travel together, including cruises and camping with their dog, Ranger, and their family.
Rick loved the outdoors! He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved to spend time at his property in Fremont and always looked forward to his annual Walleye fishing trip with the guys. If he was not hunting or fishing, he could be found reading a good book, making puzzles, playing solitaire, watching a good sci-fi or action movie, or just enjoying a Tigers baseball game or a Michigan football game. He enjoyed work, and working with his hands, always finding projects and tasks to keep busy.
Rick was a patient, kind man. He loved his family and always enjoyed laughing, living in the moment, and just being a goofball. He embodied James 1:19 “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry”.
He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be at 11 am on Saturday, October 16th in The Chapel at Christ Memorial Church (entrance D), 595 Graafschap Road. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 pm Friday, October 15th at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Northwood Chapel, 295 Douglas Avenue.
