Tim Monaghan, age 58, of Holland, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021. Tim loved life, his family, his Irish heritage, and his country.
Tim earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Cornerstone University of Grand Rapids, Michigan, an Associate of Arts degree from the School of Culinary Arts of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and an Associate of Science degree in Media Production from the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He had a wonderful career as a chef and volunteered for many years as a docent to The Holland Historical Trust Museum.
Tim and his family grew up in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. In 1989 his parents chose to retire in Holland, Michigan. After his mother, Jeanne Anne suffered a debilitating illness, Tim came to Holland to be a caregiver to his parents. Jeanne Anne passed away in 1997. Tim continued to help his father John until he passed in 2006. Tim remained in the home on College Avenue. His door was always open to family and friends. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality, sense of humor, love of family, and faith in Christ.
Tim was preceded in death by his brother John Monaghan, his niece Megan Jeanne Monaghan and parents John and Jeanne Anne Monaghan.
Tim is survived by his fiancé Sandra Covell and nine siblings: Carol and Chuck Goldstein, Martin Monaghan, Susan and Craig Janusz, Christopher and Renee Monaghan, Mary and Leo Wolski, Edmund and Marsha Monaghan, Daniel and Kathryn Monaghan, Julie and Frank Banigan, and Matthew Monaghan. Tim is also survived by his sister-in-law Linda Monaghan, twenty-five nieces and nephews and eighteen great nieces and nephews.
A private family funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 16, 2021, at the Saint Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 171 W. 13th St. Holland, MI 49423. Father Charlie Brown will be officiating. Burial will be in the Queen of Heaven cemetery in Hillside, IL. Masks are required to be always worn while in the Church.
A public viewing will be from 10:00-10:45 AM prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in memorial to Tim Monaghan to the Holland Museum: https://hollandmuseum.org/support/donate/. Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Homes-Mulder Chapel.
