Esther M. Scholten, age 88, of Holland, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021, at Freedom Village.
Esther was a member of Graafschap Christian Reformed Church and was active in the Ladies Aid, Bible Study, and knitting and sewing groups, played the organ and piano, sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and was a Calvinette Leader. She worked at Family Fare for 30 years and also volunteered at Bibles for Mexico and Cross Roads. Above all, she was a woman of strong faith who adored her family.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Gradus; son-in-law, Philip Timmerman; siblings, Lewis DeWeerd, Purcel DeWeerd, Hermina VanRhee, Edna DeWeerd; and in-laws, Merlin Cook, Harvey VanRhee, Hazel DeWeerd, Hilda DeWeerd, Jeanette DeWeerd, Lorraine DeWeerd, Lester Scholten, Edward Scholten, LaVerne Scholten, Johanna Scholten, and Leona Blauwkamp.

Funeral services for Esther are planned for 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at Graafschap Christian Reformed Church, 5973 Church Street, Holland, with Rev. Philip Kok officiating. Burial will be in Graafschap Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, October 4 also at the church.
