HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — A group of Holland-area residents have organized a demonstration set for this afternoon “to demand reproductive rights for all women, meet other allies in the community, and connect with resources to further advocate and take action,” according to the event’s Facebook description: https://www.facebook.com/events/220984970005597/?active_tab=discussion
Set for 1 p.m. in Holland’s Centennial Park, the goal is to demonstrate support for reproductive freedom, and opposing “any federal, state or local rollbacks, cuts or restrictions on our ability to access quality reproductive healthcare services, birth control, HIV/AIDS care and prevention, or medically accurate sexuality education.”
In essence, the group is asking for supporters of “safe, legal, affordable abortion and birth control for all people, regardless of income, location or education,” according to the event description.
Planners are asking people to follow COVID-19 protocols and note a tent will be set up to provide first aid, if needed. Those who feel ill or would rather attend virtually have been invited to post photos of themselves to the event page.
This demonstration is one of many happening across the U.S., and dozens in Michgian, as part of the Women’s March movement: womensmarch.com.
