From election coordinator to Michigan Clerk of the Year: Justin Roebuck’s passion for public service. Ottawa County’s Justin Roebuck was recently named the 2021 Michigan Clerk of the Year. He has made customer service a priority since taking office, with a focus on utilizing technology to solve problems and improve access and transparency.
Lakeshore sheep farm certified for sustainability practices. Sheep farmer Julie Engel shares why she’s taking on the extra costs and time to have practices validated by A Greener World, described as North America’s most trusted and transparent farm certifier.
Symphony announces $5M campaign to build an endowment. The leaders of the West Michigan Symphony have launched the Play Your Part campaign, as part of a $5 million fundraising effort to build the WMS endowment while investing in music education programs for underserved children in the Muskegon area.
Awarding-winning photographer shares his favorite images of the Lakeshore. Outdoor photographer Todd Reed is celebrating his lifelong love of the Mitten State with his new book, Todd Reed: 50 Years of Seeing Michigan Through a Lens. Over the years, he has taken many photos of the Lakeshore, from lighthouses to tulips to Coast Guard vessels.
GRCC tapped for national project to tackle student food and housing insecurity. GRCC is one of 27 U.S. colleges picked for Hope4College, an initiative by the Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice to tackle food and housing insecurity among college students.
Alumnus comes full circle with construction of GRCC Lakeshore Campus. As project superintendent, alumnus York Tardy oversaw every aspect of the transformation of the former department store into the new GRCC Lakeshore Campus.
Community Foundation grant lifts up program for Latinx leaders. The Grand Haven Area Community Foundation is giving a $40,000 grant to Tri-Cities Puentes Initiative to support “LEADeres Lakeshore,” a leadership and professional development program for Latinx professionals and leaders in the Lakeshore area.
