Jerome Albert Schorle, 83, of Fennville, MI passed away Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital. Born November 11, 1937, in Chicago, IL, he was the son of the late Albert and Frances (Koenig) Schorle and was the husband of Betty (Wadsworth) Schorle for 62 years. Mr. Schorle served honorably in the United States Army where he had first been assigned to the artillery division and, later, to the motor pool. Following his time in service, he worked in several jobs over the years including auto mechanic, marine mechanic, and service manager for Tower Marine, and finally landing as a licensed builder; a trade he continued to work in for over thirty years. Mr. Schorle was a member of the National Rifle Association for more than twenty years. In his spare time, he enjoyed going fishing or working in his barn, and restoring old tractors. Mr. Schorle gave back to his community by serving on the Ganges Township Board. He was a straight-shooting, jack-of-all-trades who was always there to help anyone in need.
In addition to his wife, Betty, Mr. Schorle is survived by his children, Timothy (Angel Moore) Schorle and Kelly (Kristopher) Korman; siblings, Deborah (Frank) Atwood and Albert “Mick” (Roberta) Schorle, Jr.; grandchildren, Jessica DeJohn, Todd Schorle, II, Mathew Korman, and Erik Korman; and great-grandchildren, Donna Schorle, Madelyn DeJohn, and Carson DeJohn.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Todd Schorle; and his brother, Robert Schorle.
The family will receive friends at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Douglas, on Monday, September 20, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, with a luncheon following at St. Peter’s Hall. Mr. Schorle will be laid to rest privately at Taylor Cemetery, Ganges Township.
