HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The 12th annual Civil War Muster and Heritage Days at VanRaalte Farm Park, 858 E. 24th St. in Holland, is this weekend.
Starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, the encampment opens to the public. Military drills are set to start at 10 a.m. with Fritz Klein portraying President Abraham Lincoln; and others performing as Harriet Tubman; U.S. Army Gen. Ulysses S. Grant; Gen. George Custer; and Rebellion leader Robert E. Lee. Saturday’s events include a medical scenario, a fashion show, dance, and at 9 p.m. an evening bonfire to conclude the day.
Van Raalte Farm is an historic, 160-acre park originally a farm and home built by Civil War veteran Benjamin Van Raalte, son of Holland founder the Rev. Albertus Van Raalte.
The reenactments continue between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday, with cannons fired at 2 p.m.
