Margaret G. Sportel, age 93, fell asleep on Friday, September 10th, and is awaiting the return of Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior.
Margaret lived life to the fullest and enriched everyone she came in contact with her fun-loving and caring heart. She was a woman of great faith, wisdom and was also a great prayer warrior. She was always understanding of, and compassionate towards people and their struggles and challenges. She will be missed greatly by all of us.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Henry G. Sportel; brother, Lawrence “Fooze” DeGlopper and brother Bob and Fran DeGlopper.
She is survived by her sister Virginia Vanderwilt and brother Don (Sherri) DeGlopper; children Doug (Janie) Sportel, Debbie (Ozzie) Aylworth, Scott (Mary) Sportel, Beth (Charles) Rix, Nancy (Brian) Hennigan, Becky (Glenn) McCaw; 14 “Priceless” grandchildren; Marissa (Dave) Gunnett, Andrew Sportel, Margorie (Jeff) Sondermann, Jaxson Sportel, Ryan (Laura) Sportel, Brandon (Lida) Sportel, Travis (Laura) Sportel, Elisha (Melissa) Rix, Clinton Rix, Kelsey (Josh) Busscher, Allie (Michael) Niederer, Cody McCaw, Gabe McCaw, and Reagan McCaw; and 7 precious great-grandchildren; Josiah Sondermann, Jake Sondermann, Emma Gunnett, Olivia Sportel, Evelyn Sportel, Logan Sportel, and Jack Busscher; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including her longtime friends Donna Grooters and June Dyk.
Visitation will take place on Friday, September 17 from 6-8 p.m at Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel (295 Douglas Blvd. Holland). Funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 18, at 1:00 p.m also at Dykstra Funeral Home – Northwood Chapel.
