Delvin (Duff) Vander Poppen, age 72, of Hamilton, passed away Saturday, September 11th, at Holland hospital after a courageous battle of cancer. He was a member of Hamilton Reformed Church. Duff was a loving and awesome husband, father, and Papa.
Duff enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren. Going to their events and camping with family and friends. He loved to socialize wherever and loved to find a good place to eat. Duff enjoyed his corvette, car shows, bowling, fishing, hunting, and was always willing to help anyone in need, and was a very kind and unselfish person.
Duff is survived by: his wife of 52 years, Mary; his daughter, Lisa (Brandon) Jacobsen; his son, Jeff (Helene) Vander Poppen; grandchildren, Abbie and Bryce Jacobsen, Madison and Logan Vander Poppen; brothers, Howard (Carol) Vander Poppen, Dale (Carla) Vander Poppen, Mark Vander Poppen; brothers-in-law, Dave Dangremond, and Paul (Gail) Kapenga; and several nieces and nephews.
Duff was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Geneva Vander Poppen; his sister; Shirley Dangremond; and parents-in-law, Richard and Dorothy Kapenga.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 15th, from 5-6 and after the celebration of life service. The celebration of life service will be at 6:30 at Hamilton Reformed Church 3554 Lincoln Rd, Hamilton, with Rev. Ron Lugton officiating, and refreshments to follow.
