KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety cruiser was hit Saturday during a high-speed chase involving a stolen car from Chicago.
Authorities say the cruiser was struck by the vehicle during a pursuit throughout town.
The stolen vehicle tried to hit a Western Michigan University police officer but instead, hit a KDPS cruiser during the chase, which shut down Kendall Avenue from Howard Street to West Main Street for about 40 minutes.
After the collision, police said the driver fled on foot while the two other people inside the vehicle were taken into police custody. Following a K9 track, police said the suspect was identified but not found.
